Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center unveils new cancer center

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is now offering more types of treatment for their cancer patients.

Tuesday, they revealed their newly expanded Conemaugh Cancer Center, which will now have radiation oncology services.

Congressman John Joyce even stopped by to see the new facility.

The new linear accelerator in the center lowers the risk of healthy tissue being damaged during radiation treatment.

This allows cancer patients to receive all of their necessary treatments in one place.

Before, patients had to be transferred to other hospitals for radiation oncology services.

The expansion of the facility was made possible by a nearly $6 million capital investment from Duke Lifepoint Healthcare.
