Jury deadlocked, mistrial declared in case of DuBois man accused of child sex abuse

A mistrial has been declared in the case of a DuBois man accused of sexually abusing a girl for over a year after authorities say a Clearfield County jury was deadlocked on a verdict.

Police arrested Sean Lechiara last August following an investigation into allegations that he had repeatedly assaulted the victim, beginning when she was approximately 12 years old.

Lechiara was charged with over 100 various felonies, including rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, statutory sexual assault and invasion of privacy.

Officials say Lechiara appeared in court earlier this week and following two days of testimony, the jury was "hung" on a verdict.

Clearfield County District Attorney Ryan Sayers says prosecutors plan to submit the case for a retrial.
