Fairview chamber sets Night Down Memory Lane, featuring Yankee Tower meatloaf

Old-time photos and other memorabilia will be shared and moments recalled during the event, set for Saturday, Oct. 19, from 6:30-9:30 p.m., at the Greek Orthodox Church on Anderson Avenue.

Many attendees will no doubt remember the Yankee Tower. The white-brick, 82-seat landmark — at the foot of Fairview Avenue off Broad — closed in 2001, ending an era that lasted exactly 50 years and 93 days.

Still, the memories created by the Cangilosi family and the equal-opportunity wise-cracking waitresses remained — as has the much-sought-after recipe for the diner’s signature meatloaf (It’s the cheese inside that does the trick).

Also being served at the event: roast beef, meatballs, french fries and desert.
