Former nightclub owner Murray Hodgson is expected to file a federal lawsuit in Detroit against the City of Royal Oak, MI, for at least $10 million since he says he was unfairly blocked by the city when he tried to open a club there.
The Detroit Free Press reported that in addition to the City of Royal Oak, Hodgson was also suing two of its city
attorneys and several elected and former elected officials, according to Hodgson's attorney Cindy Rhodes Victor.
The seven-count lawsuit will allege conspiracy, criminal acts, violation of federally protected civil rights, libel, slander and other charges, according to a news release. He had proposed opening a club at the Royal Oak Music Theatre, but his proposal was denied last year in a series of votes by Royal Oak officials. –Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
