Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Besides facilities at Penn State, the former Centre Crest nursing home in Bellefonte is one of the county's largest buildings.
The county still owns the building, and with a new Centre Crest facility now open, architects are now studying what’s best in terms of renovating the nearly 85-year-old property.
“We have started surveying what individual departments would have potential to move into that facility
With close to 120-thousand-square-feet of usable space, there's been talk of leasing part of the building, but county administrators say it’s too early for that decision.
“There are lease spaces identified that could be leased out to a non-profit, or a small percentage could be allocated for profit.”
Nearly $30 million has been budgeted for the renovation project at the former Centre Crest site, with construction expected to begin next year.
