Corporal H. Hopple was taken into custody around 11 p.m., Wednesday, March 29 after an assault was called in at the 6200 block of Solomons Island Road in Tracys Landing. Investigators say that the 16-year veteran of the Anne Arundel County Police Department pushed a woman down, causing minor injuries she was treated for at an area hospital. The officer was placed under arrest and charged with second-degree assault.  Corporal Hopple is assigned to the Bureau of Community Services and has been suspected of pay pending an investigation.

Take Leap For Special Olympics In Westchester Polar Plunge

This year's event, named Freezin' for a Reason, takes place Nov. 12 at Glen Island Park in New Rochelle. Organizers are hoping to surpass the $99,000 goal for the event. Last year, more than 600 people took the plunge to raise a record $96,000, organizers said. Money is used to support 3,500 athletes from the Hudson Valley region competing in Special Olympics New York.  Special Olympics athletes are never charged to participate.
