The incident occurred on Sunday, Feb. 25 in Valley Stream, according to Nassau County Police.
At approximately 1:30 p.m. that day, police arrived at a Valley Stream home to conduct a welfare check, where they determined that Brigitte Atta-Poku, age 43, needed medical treatment.
However, she allegedly became violent with authorities, hitting and even biting a medic.
Atta-Poku’s son, 23-year-old Manai A. Frank, reportedly joined in, also pushing a medic and officer before the duo was placed under arrest. The officer and police medic were taken to a local hospital for their injuries.
They are both charged with assault; Atta-Poku faces an additional charge of resisting arrest.
Each is scheduled to be arraigned at Hempstead’s First District Court on Monday, Feb. 26.
